Countertop basins

Ceramic countertop basins with thin edges, to place on a vanity unit, a stone top or a wooden shelf.

Evona and Felis are glazed ceramic basins designed to sit on a worktop. Evona (50.5 × 40 cm) has no tap hole and pairs with a wall-mounted tap or a tall basin mixer; it comes in gloss white and matt black. Felis (49 × 38.5 cm) has a single tap hole on its rear deck for a standard basin mixer. Both are supplied without waste so that the finish can match the tapware.

Countertop basins

A countertop basin sits on top of a vanity unit, a stone worktop or a wooden shelf. It shows its whole shape and turns the washbasin area into a design feature. Choosing one is mainly a matter of three things: the tap, the height and the size of the worktop.

Start with the tap

This is the most important decision, because it determines the basin model and the work on the wall or the worktop.

  • Evona has no tap hole. It is used with a wall-mounted tap, whose pipes are built into the wall above the basin, or with a tall basin mixer fixed to the worktop next to or behind the basin.
  • Felis has one tap hole on its rear deck. It takes a standard single-hole basin mixer, fixed directly on the basin, so no tap hole is needed in the worktop.

With a wall-mounted tap, check that the spout is long enough to reach over the edge of the basin and to let water fall near the waste.

Get the height right

The rim of a countertop basin is higher than the worktop it stands on. Evona is 14 cm high and Felis 13.5 cm. Many people find a rim height of around 85 cm comfortable; with these basins, that means a worktop around 70 to 72 cm high. Adjust to the users: a little higher for tall people, lower in a children's bathroom.

Size and worktop

  • Evona measures 50.5 × 40 cm. It suits standard single vanity units and gives generous room for washing.
  • Felis measures 49 × 38.5 cm with a compact bowl. It suits guest toilets and narrow vanities.

Allow a few centimetres of worktop around the basin, plus space for the mixer if it is fixed to the worktop. The worktop needs a hole for the waste, and a second hole if you choose a deck-mounted tall mixer for Evona.

Waste and finishes

Both basins are supplied without waste, so you can match its finish to the tapware (chrome, black, brushed metal). Evona has a Ø 46 mm waste outlet. Ask your plumber to choose the waste and trap according to the basin and to the plug you prefer.

Evona exists in gloss white and matt black; Felis in gloss white. A matt black Evona works well with a matt black Vega Square toilet. Glazed ceramic is cleaned with a soft cloth and a mild product; avoid abrasive powders, especially on matt surfaces.

Matching the mirror

Choose a mirror about as wide as the basin or slightly wider, centred above it. A round Luz Round softens a rectangular basin; a Luz Square continues its straight lines.
