Walk-in shower screens
Fixed glass screens for open walk-in showers, in 6 mm tempered glass with a stainless steel stabiliser bar.
Aire Walk-In is a single panel of 6 mm clear tempered glass held by a chrome aluminium wall profile and a stainless steel stabiliser bar. It is made for level-access showers on a tiled floor and comes in three widths: 80, 100 and 120 cm, all 200 cm high. The wall profile allows ±20 mm of adjustment on each side to compensate for walls that are out of plumb.
How to choose a walk-in shower screen
A walk-in shower has no door: a fixed glass panel protects the room from splashes and leaves an open entrance. It is easy to access, quick to clean and makes the bathroom look larger. A successful walk-in shower depends on the width of the panel, the position of the shower head and the floor.
Choose the width
Aire Walk-In comes in three widths: 80, 100 and 120 cm, all 200 cm high.
- 80 cm suits compact shower areas, with the shower head placed at the closed end.
- 100 cm is a balanced choice for most bathrooms.
- 120 cm gives the best protection in a long shower area, or when the shower head is close to the middle of the panel.
The panel should cover most of the length of the shower area, while leaving a comfortable entrance, generally at least 50 to 60 cm wide.
Place the shower head and the drain carefully
Water should be sprayed towards the glass and away from the opening. Place the shower column or the head at the closed end of the shower, on the wall that holds the glass panel or on the back wall. The floor slopes towards the drain: a linear drain along the back wall or a point drain in the shower area keeps water away from the entrance.
The floor
A walk-in screen works best with a level-access tiled floor, without a step. It can also be installed on a low shower tray. In both cases, the floor and walls of the wet area must be waterproofed before tiling. Plan the slope and the drain at the start of the work, before choosing the tiles.
Fixing and adjustment
The glass panel is held on the wall by a chrome aluminium profile. A stainless steel stabiliser bar connects the top of the glass to the wall and keeps the panel rigid. The wall profile allows ±20 mm of adjustment on each side, which absorbs walls that are not perfectly plumb.
Glass and maintenance
Aire Walk-In uses 6 mm clear tempered glass, a safety glass that shatters into small blunt pieces if it breaks. Wipe it with a squeegee after each shower to limit limescale, and clean it regularly with a mild product.
